Ankara:
The Strategic City
From 11 - 13 March 2009
Ankara will be the host city of the 8th Turkish
International Oil & Gas
Conference and Showcase. Ankara has not been inadvertently selected.
O nce an important trading center on the
caravan route to the east,
the city reflects nowadays the growing interest in Turkey's oil
and gas sector as well as its strategic location and importance
as a regional oil and gas transportation hub between
Central Asia, the Middle
East and Europe. Ankara is about as European as Turkey gets. Centrally
located in Anatolia, Ankara is an important commercial and industrial
city. It is the center of the Turkish Government, and houses all
foreign embassies. It is an important crossroads of trade, strategically
located at the center of Turkey's highway and railway networks,
and serves as the marketing center for the surrounding agricultural
area. Ankara is a vibrant international city which makes it a desirable
location for either tourism or business.
